Lincoln >Legends Sports Bar & Grill
Down Hill and FAST.
When I first tried Legends it was on a Saturday Husker football game day. Food came out quick, good service(especially for a game day), and the food was quite good...however the place has gone downhill VERY fast. My friends and I used to go almost every weekend and loved the place. However the tables are being replaced with plastic folding tables instead of the original wood and the food has become plain old awful.
I officially went to Legends for the last time with two friends a few weeks ago. The place was a ghost town even though it was a Friday night, so we picked a place right in front of the only TV on. We did not see anyone at the bar so we waited to be helped. After almost 20 minutes a waitress came to get our drink orders.
We ordered mixed drinks and then made a huge mistake by asking if we could have a few minutes to pick out something to eat. After another 15-20 minutes she brought us our watered down drinks. I made sure to ask if they had put in any alcohol and she rudely replied “well yeah” so I did not push the subject further. We asked for nachos with taco meat and without another word she walked away.
After around 10 minutes our waitress appeared again and let us know they just ran out of taco meat. My main question is how the heck do you JUST run out of taco meat when no one in the bar is ordering food? None the less we changed our order to chicken.
30 minutes later she re appears with the nachos and walks away without asking us if we want more drinks. The first bite of a chip I had I spit out because they were so stale. Another 20 minutes later the waitress re appears and we let her know that the chips are extremely stale. No sorry just an “Oh”. Sadly there was no Manager present for us to complain to so we asked for our check. No comp, no discount, no sorry, just crappy drinks, stale chips and a bad waitress. We cut our losses and just paid the tab and left.
I hope we get another Bar and grill out by us and soon because Legends is no longer a place we are willing to go.
I love this bar & grill! Awesome Jalapeno Poppers. You can enjoy your favorite drink on their large patio in the Spring, Summer or Fall. They even have a fire table to keep you toasty when the weather's chilly!
Karaoke nights are a blast & the servers have always been pleasant.
My favorite place to go in Lincoln, especially for Nebraska games!!
Has really gone downhill!.
My husband and I used to live across the street from Legends and we used to rave about the food and atmosphere there. Since we moved away from Lincoln, NE, in 2007, this last week was the first time we have been back to Legends Sports Bar and Grill.
We were not only disappointed in the lack of service, and even though we had a group of 8 people, we still had to wait more than 45 minutes for the food. Most of us ordered burgers and fries, which everyone knows is a 15 minute meal or less. We were in the restaurant on a Monday evening around 8 pm---not a busy time for a restaurant. Our expectations of speedy service must have been too lofty. The waitress was a nice gal, but what I found most frustrating was her bald-faced lies about what was holding up our food. She claimed it was the fries. (They take 3 minutes to fry.) She finally threw the cook under the bus by telling us that "they keep burning the food." After finally we received our food, which was barely warm, most of it was disappointing. My "Fresh Veggies" off the menu consisted of freezer-burned carrots. Just. Carrots. I can get that at home and for a lot less! My friend received regular fries instead of the sweet potato fries she ordered. I timed how long it took for them to make it to the table. Twenty minutes!!
After we finished eating, our waitress was not in any hurry to hand us our tickets. We were disgusted when she finally brought them and noticed the "Large Party" gratuity was already tacked on.
We are embarrassed to have brought our friends there after raving about the food. I made attempts to find a manager so I could complain but there wasn't one on site. We will not be returning to Legends in the future. We are so sad to see that our nostalgic local haunt has drastically taken a turn for the worst. This is something no restaurant can afford, especially in this tough economic time.
Used to be ok, now is TERRIBLE!.
I don't even think they deserve 1 star! We have had a few really bad experiences... not sure why we even went back...
We have had to wait long periods of time for our food, and one time they brought eveyones food except my 9 year old daughters, which came after everyone else was done...
Another time our overly priced appetizer was burnt beyond recognition, which they did end up comping for us...
Last night my 9 yr old ordered a hot dog, it came so burnt it was black half way through.. how in the world do you mess up a hot dog? We sent it back and the waitress said they will all be like that because they are so freezer burnt!! GROSS! The other food wasn't anything to rave about either.
We used to go for the wings, which are tiny but were only 25 cents, then they changed it to 35 , which is outrageous for these tiny things!!
Legends used to be ok, now I will NEVER go back...
Service usually sucks and the food is absolutely awful!
